Founded
in 1991 as Take Stock®, our founder started
her day at 4:00AM getting up shop, simmer and
pack her French stocks in her trusty black
Volvo.
Now
we have grown to a small group of really smart
and fun and energetic and funny (in
all sorts of ways) entrepreneurs dedicated
to creating and producing (for you, our happy
and grateful customer) top-shelf, first-class,
professional quality (well, actually even better
than some chefs we know), luscious, clean,
healthy, pristine, delicious,
tasty classic French stocks and sauces (and,
pretty soon, soups) that would make even
ole Escoffier himself so, so pleased. He would
like to know us.
In
addition to liking to cook good (OK, great)
stuff, we also want our efforts to reflect
our purity of thought and deed with regard
to Mother Earth and our fellow man (Don't you
snicker at that).
Why
not jump right on the sustainability bandwagon
and help spread the word about what these good
farmers and ranchers are
up to? These dudes and dudettes deserve the
credit for helping us clean up our insides and
live better on the outsides. You can see more
about our philosphy over in the "Better Stuff to Know" department.
Our
chief cook and bottle-washer is Cheryl Weatherly
Binnie, who fancies herself hot at the burners.
Most folks tend to agree. Daughter of a Chicago
Bears Linebacker (Translation Tall enough to
sling a mean stockpot), Cheryl grew up in Houston,
Texas just lovin' the kitchen and everything
about it. Runs in the family. Primarily self-taught,
she went off to cooking school one year and
has never been the same since. Following a
long stint with Williams-Sonoma in Dallas,
where she worked really hard and taught lots
of locals how to cook, Cheryl went off and
founded a little company to make the fine French
stocks that everybody wants but not many have
the time to do (properly, that is...key word
is properly).
She
was plum' tired of all the bad stuff and cheaters
out there and wanted to make a big difference
in quality and purity of ingredients and truth
in food labels (she's no big fan of the big
food boys) and taste. And she has.
Just
wait til you taste the difference she's made.
You'll wonder where she's been all your life.
When she says "No
funny stuff, no foolin'" on those boxes,
she means it. You can see more about the goodies
she cooks up over in the "Our Goods" and "How
You can Get Some" Departments.
Or better yet, call her up, she loves to
hear from customers!
